DB arrested gang leader with huge fake currency notes along with equipment and materials

Lalbagh Division of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DB) has arrested a gang of making counterfeit notes of Bangladeshi currency, Taka and Indian currency, Rupee using color printers in Kadamatoli area of ​​Jatrabari in the capital.

On Saturday (May 8), two houses were raided from morning to noon and fake currency note of about one hundred crore taka and equipment and materials to print another three-crore fake taka were recovered. The equipment and materials are: special type of cloth/paper, special type of ink, laptops, four printers, dozens of screens/dices of different sizes, white Paper, heater machine, security thread and various items of counterfeit currency notes. A large number of fake notes of 200, 500, 1000 Bangladeshi Taka and a lot of 500 Rupee notes of Indian currency were recovered.

Four people including the ringleader were arrested. They are Liaqat Hussain Zakir alias Mazar Zakir alias Guru Zakir (40), his second wife Mumtaz Begum (25), Lima Akhtar Rina (40) and Sajeda Akhtar (28).

According to the DB, the gang was using 22 mm white paper color printers available in the market to produce fake notes of Bangladeshi and Indian currency very efficiently. Zakir, the ringleader, has been making fake notes of 500 and 1,000 Bangladeshi Taka for 12 years. For being tactful and bluff the common people, they used to make fake notes of 100 and 200 Taka also. Targeting Eid-ul-Azha, the gang was preparing to release huge number of fake notes in the market.
